Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

HP Goblet

Harry Potter

and the Goblet of Fire

by Mark and Atti for Novel Madness 2013

Children anxiously wait to vote for the best book. Who will win- Percy Jackson or Harry Potter? Some kids may think The Mark of Athena is a great book; however, most people know that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling is the victor. Our reasons for why we strongly believe The Goblet of Fire is more unique are that it has more details, excitement, and more competitiveness.

Although a few people might assume The Goblet of Fire isn’t very interesting, this book has many specifics. The Mark of Athena doesn’t have enough excitement. Other books in the same series have better plots. For example, The Lost Hero explains the purpose of their quest clearly. The Goblet of Fire shows Harry Potter’s emotions and intentions perfectly. I can literally imagine myself standing in his shoes, looking up at the fearsome dragon. This is definitely not the only reason why you should vote for our book.

Several students seem to think The Goblet of Fire is too long, but we know that it is full of suspense. The Mark of Athena has a horrible ending. It reminds me of Cinder and Scarlet. The book is also exaggerated. When we get reunited with our fathers after a long time, we don’t react as emotionally as Percy and Annabeth. The Goblet of Fire has better story suspense. It gets more people deeper into the book and series.

A few kids can say The Mark of Athena is educational; however, we understand The Goblet of Fire has a very combative story. The Triwizard Tournament is similar to the Olympics. It makes people lean forward in their seats and watch with intensity. It has a one- of- a- kind plot. There aren’t many fantasy books with Olympic- like games.

The Goblet of Fire is definitely the victor. The book has a lot of description and is full of action. It also has pages filled with parts that display intense rivalry. Vote for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for this round!

  1. Nice job, guys. I am proud to say that I debated against this book. They worked hard and debated well. Congratulations on winning against us.

  2. I definitely agree that the Goblet of Fire is very exciting. But the book also is very suspenseful. The book leaves rarely leaves any clues for readers to infer what will happen. That makes it hard for readers to put the book down. As Mark and Atti said, the book has a unique plot. The book is amazing, but the speech made it sound even better.

  3. Nice job Mark and Atti! I really enjoyed your speech of HP and The Goblet Of Fire. I think you deserved to go a little further!

  4. Nice job you guys! Even though I didn’t win I just want to congratulations. I think you did an excellent job with the essay.

  5. The Goblet of Fire is a great book. At first, The Goblet of Fire wasn’t one of my favorite books, but after Mark and Atti read their essay, I had different feelings for the book, so great job you guys. I love how you say the Triwizard tournament is like the Olympics when the Olympics are greek. The Mark of Athena is half-greek and half-roman.

  6. I agree with Megan that it is like the Olympics, I especially liked it when they were starting the Triwizard Tournament because many people were furious with Harry for being underaged and still in the tournament. This book is remarkable! 🙂
