Day 15! Friendship!
One of the frustrating things about marketing books for young adults is that they get their reading suggestions from friends. I am about forty years too old to be a real friend, but luckily in sixth grade their teacher has some influence, too! Adults will browse a bookstore, browse online, read a blog, or check out upcoming book reviews in magazines. Teens don’t do any of that. They go to a bookstore to pick up a book their friend recommended, or they order it online. My idea for marketing the next bestseller is to create some sort of uber-friend that will walk around spouting ads for my book. Any teens out there interested?
