This is the first project I made. It is a portfolio to hold a pad of paper that can be replaced when it’s used up. First, I transferred the pattern from the paper to the leather.
Tooling the leather gives it details and depth. See the top? That’s not done yet.

Next, the inside. Some heavy cardboard is used to stiffen the covers. It is glued in. The binding is scored for easy folding.
Suede covers the boards, and tooled leather pockets are glued in. See the holes around the edges? It will all be laced together with leather. Below, the lacing is in progress.
