Bio

Linda Ulleseit was born and raised in Saratoga, California. She is retired elementary school teacher with an MFA in writing from Lindenwood University and is a founding member of Paper Lantern Writers. She enjoys cooking, cross-stitching, reading, and spending time with her family.

Linda Ulleseit’s first novel, ON A WING AND A DARE, began as a NaNoWriMo novel in 2009. It was revised over the next two years with the help of reviewers on TheNextBigWriter.com and was published in 2012. It is a Young Adult fantasy set in medieval Wales, complete with flying horses, a love triangle, and treachery. For NaNoWriMo 2011, Linda drafted the sequel, IN THE WINDS OF DANGER, which was released in March, 2013. The third flying horse book, UNDER A WILD AND DARKENING SKY came out in 2014.

Also in 2014, UNDER THE ALMOND TREES was released. It is an adult historical novel set in early 20th century California and is based on three of Linda’s ancestors.

In August 2020, Ulleseit’s novel, THE ALOHA SPIRITwas published by She Writes Press. The story is inspired by her husband’s grandmother, who grew up in Hawaii.

THE RIVER REMEMBERS, June 2023, also from She Writes Press, features an ancestor of Linda’s born at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, in 1835. It also includes a Dakota chief’s daughter and a slave woman as point of view characters.

INNOCENTS AT HOME was released in September 2024. It is set in Gilded Age New York and features two women on Linda’s family tree that went on the cruise with Mark Twain that inspired his novel Innocents Abroad. Some of his later remarks ruined the life of one of these women, and broke the heart of another.
