I love looking forward to brand new historical fiction. This year a lot of my favorite authors will be releasing new books, and there are a lot of posts out there welcoming those books into the world. In this post, therefore, I am going to focus only on new books coming from the members of Paper Lantern Writers.
EDIE CAY will bring us the last two books in her Ladies Alpine Society series this year. INTO THE BREACH came out earlier this month, and INTO THE SKY will be released in April. This series features a group of Victorian women mountain climbers.
ANNE BEGGS will release BY ARROW AND SWORD, the long-awaited second book in her Dahlquin series, early in the year. The books take place in 13th century Ireland and feature a strong female character who is an archer. There are a lot of horses in the books, too, since that is an interest of Anne’s.
JONATHAN POSNER adds to his Mary Fox Adventures series this March with the release of THE RIVER OF FIRE, book three in the series set in Tudor England. If you haven’t yet discovered Mary Fox, you will love this impetuous heroine.
ALINA RUBIN will release book four of her HEARTS AND SAILS series this year, although the title, cover, and release date are yet to be announced. These books follow Ella Parker as she defies her family and convention to become a surgeon.
C. V. LEE is set to release the third book in her de Carteret Chronicles, HER NOBLE GROOM, but the date has not yet been announced. The two books so far follow Philippe de Carteret during the French occupation of the Isle of Jersey.
MARI CHRISTIE has just released her SAILING HOME series with spiffy updated covers. These three books are set in Regency England and consist of a full-length novel, ROYAL REGARD, and two prequel novellas.
PAPER LANTERN WRITERS will release a nonfiction book in 2025, too. CRAFTING STORIES FROM THE PAST: A HOW-TO GUIDE FOR WRITING HISTORICAL FICTION contains twenty-four chapters of tips, each written by our members.
Whichever books you choose to read in 2025, please support the authors by leaving a review on Amazon, Goodreads and/or Bookbub. Thank youi!
